One to go!
I've written here about the many Disney properties around the world and my adventure to see them all. Well, I'm almost there!
This past week, I was able to go to Disney's Hilton Head Resort, aptly named for the fact that it sits upon Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. I stayed in a marsh view room and sure enough we had a good view of the marsh.
Hilton Head itself has a very neo-rustic feel. You can find all of the contemporary amenities, but the flashy commercialization of many other vacations destinations is, thankfully, muted. Earth tones are abundant and every building blends into the surroundings.
The resort is nothing less than fantastic, but it's more understated than the other Disney destinations I've been too. You will find the pool and the activities you would expect in a beach resort.
What's very interesting to me is the satellite beach location. It's about a 10-minute drive or bus ride from the resort but it's still all Disney. There you will find another pool with loungers and direct beach access. The most interesting part is that the restrooms smelled like Christmas. I can't really articulate what Christmas smells like, but it just does.
All in all. It's a great place to visit and just relax and feel like you're in touch with nature without being too in touch.
